Depends on how hungry they are. If they're starving, nothing will deter them. Best defense, a scattergun.
Reply:Heard that about cats but not rodents. You are better off with steel wool and moth crystals. Stuff the steel wool in any holes and openings the rodent can squeeze through and sprinkle the crystals around floor boards. Good Luck!
