Actually what is the taste of mint? Can anyone define it?

Somebody said that mint is hot, somebody said it is spicy, somebody said it is cold, actually what is the natural taste of mint? I, myself can't really word it out how mint taste!

Reply:well ive always thought of the word "mint" as a taste category in of itself. Like if I tasted a food that had a lot of mint in it, I'd say its minty.
