I need a simple Mint Julep recipe, can you help me?

I'm having some family over for the Kentucky Derby today. Can anyone give me a simple recipe for Mint Juleps. It doesn't need to be exotic, and as a matter of fact SIMPLE IS BETTER.

Thanks.

I need a simple Mint Julep recipe, can you help me?
Here are the ingredients:

1 tablespoon mint-flavored simple syrup (recipe follows)

2 ounces Kentucky whiskey

Sprigs of mint

First prepare the mint flavored syrup, which should be made a day or 2 before your party.

Here's how to do that:

To make simple syrup: Bring 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water to a boil. Boil 5 minutes, without stirring. Cool to room temperature. Then fill a jar loosely with sprigs of fresh mint, crushed slightly, and cover with the cooled syrup.

Cover jar and refrigerate 12 to 24 hours. Discard mint. Refrigerate until ready to use. Makes 2 1/2 to 3 cups.

To make drink:

Fill chilled julep cup with finely crushed ice. Pour in the mint-flavored syrup and the whiskey. Frost cup, stick in a sprig of mint and serve at once

heres 1 without the syrup

4 fresh mint sprigs

2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey

1 tsp powdered sugar

2 tsp water

Muddle mint leaves, powdered sugar, and water in a collins glass. Fill the glass with shaved or crushed ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig. Serve with a straw.
Reply:The only difficult part about making a mint julep is the simple syrup. But you make that ahead of time, and then it's used like any other mixer. The key is to make sure you make enough, so as not have to make more in the middle of the party. But it's just sugar and water, then you add mint leaves.

2 cups sugar

2 cups water

Sprigs of fresh mint

Crushed ice

Kentucky Whiskey

Silver Julep Cups (you can use anything, really)

Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes.

Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight.

Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Kentucky Whiskey.

Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup.

Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
Reply:Choose another drink. Mint juleps take a long time. Any recipe that doesn't is not a mint julep.
