Does mint plants require acic or alkalinic soil.?

I've placed spent coffee grounds around the mint as they repell snails and supposedly add acid content to soil (slow release fertilizer). Do you know if caffein content has any bearing on the growth of mint plants?

Mint is not picky. they'll spread quickly, so sunken containers can help if you don't want that. more important is light and water: plenty of light, plenty of moisture, though not waterlogged. mints are a great deer deterrent!!
Reply:you need to find out what zone your in.
Reply:Your real problem will probably turn out to be keeping them from spreading all over your garden and taking over. It's recommended when planting mint that you place it in a sunken container so it can't spread like mad. Not sure it cares what kind of soil....though of course, it's probably happier in some than other.
