I have mint plants that i would like to ship. How would i package them for shipping? Can i ship them bare?

I have mint plants that i would like to ship. How would i package them for shipping? Can i ship them bare?
Even if you ship express they'll dry out shipped bare. A small amount of soil, moistened and wrapped in a plastic will keep roots from drying but there is no inexpensive way to transport them. They will get mouldy in a dark box if it takes too long.

Reply:You need to check the laws of the state you are shipping to. Mint is considered invasive in many places. And quite a few states have laws on what plants can be planted there. Invasive plants can decimate an natural ecosystem. (Think kudzu). Nothing can be shipped into Hawai'i. If you look at nursery catalogs, every one of them has 'cannot ship to...' and the various states that the plant can't go.


If you are shipping a plant into an area where it is termed 'invasive' you could be severely fined for illegal shipment of plant material.
