Can anybody tell me what kind of mint or candy is used to create the chemical reaction in a bottle of pop?

It causes some kind of instant reaction which sprays soda all over and I was just wanting to see this personally and also to do some school experiments with my daughter.

I've tried it with mentos, and a 2 liter bottle of coke. It worked well. Also, check out www.youtube.com and search "mentos and coke", there should be a movie clip showing you how to make the experiment.
Reply:Im not sure if this is what you are talking about but we used to put pop rocks in soda to make it fizz. (the candy is called pop rocks) I wouldn't drink the soda once you put the pop rocks in it because someone could get hurt.
Reply:mentos
Reply:WHO CARES??!!!
Reply:Mentos and diet Coke. Regular Coke will work also but the diet seems to work best plus the spray isn't all sticky and hard to clean up..
Reply:the famous one is mentos. google search for videos or instructions--it's quite popular right now.
Reply:MENTOS rules!
Reply:People usually use Mentos mints.
