Why is it when I chew mint gum and drink ice water it really hurts?

When I say it really hurts, I mean it is really physically painful. Is there any scientific explanation for this?

Why is it when I chew mint gum and drink ice water it really hurts?
maybe its just you. to me it makes my mouth feel really cool(as in sort of cold).
Reply:probably fillings if you've had them. and if not, a cavity that's soo bad that all thats left is basically the outer rim of your tooth and the gum is exposed. i've had this problem...3 times... so i know lol.

get it pulled.. it WILL help.
Reply:how bout dialing the dentist, duh.
Reply:um, maybe the mint is really strong. my nose hurts when i drink with mint gum in my mouth. actualyl almost mint anything. i feel like my tounge is melting and my nose is frozen. my parents just said to buy a weaker flavor.
Reply:You must have very sensitive teeth.

Try using toothpaste that helps sensitivity, or use sensodine.
Reply:the gum makes your teeth sensitive and the water is cold so your teeth don't like it
Reply:That probably means u have a cavaty. Many dentists use a cold air on couple of teeth and the one that hurts is the one that has a cavity, same thing with water or icecream. Hope you feel better!
Reply:You have sensitive teeth. I used to be like that eating ice cream, and in the winter it hurt when the wind and cold got to my teeth. Use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and ask your dentist for more.
Reply:ok i'm just say this but it's probaly not true.... mabye u have a cavity
Reply:sensitive gums? sometimes it coould be normal possible a doctor could explain if other patients have experience the same thing
Reply:sensitive teeth or cavities.

just go to a dentist, they will clean ya up.
