They dont sell it in this country, only in baskin robbins for an excpensive price, so i was wondering if there would be any way to make it at home, out of vanilla ice cream??
How to make mint chocolate chip ice cream?
a big tub of vanilla ice cream,mint flavoring,like you get for cakes,or mint oil,and chocolate chips from cake stores,supermarkets.mix it all together in a blender.refreeze, enjoy!
Reply:Soften the tub of vanilla ice cream slightly.
( I always buy the cheapest)
Add few drops of green food colouring to obtain a pale green colour. not too much or it will be too dark.
Add some Creme de Menthe liqueur, depending on taste and size tub of ice cream.
Buy 4-6 Peppermint Crisp Bars (green foil wrapper) or more or less depending on tub size.Crush them in a plastic bag... roughly if you like larger chunks. Add to ice cream mixture .
Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Refrigerate until set.Contents will settle when reset
really nice served in ice cream cones.
Reply:475 ml milk
475 ml heavy cream
200 g sugar
3 g salt
5 ml vanilla extract
5 ml peppermint extract
3 drops green food coloring (optional)
200 g miniature semisweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, stir together the milk, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla extract and peppermint extract until the sugar has dissolved. Color to your liking with the green food coloring.
Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. After about 10 minutes into the freezing, add the chocolate chips. After the ice cream has thickened, about 30 minutes later, spoon into a container, and freeze for 2 hours
