Whats the difference between mint leaves and mint tea leaves and is there such a thing as mint tea leaves??

A coworker and I are debating if the mint used to make mint tea are really mint leaves or mint tea leaves.

Whats the difference between mint leaves and mint tea leaves and is there such a thing as mint tea leaves??
Mint tea is made from mint leaves... fresh or dried are used. I think fresh mint taste better.
Reply:Is that what you do at work? debate about tea? LOL j/k Nothing beats a good debate on tea. I'm not really into herbal teas, but I've found a lot of mint flavored teas have other herbs such has hibiscus, orange peel, cinnamon, etc etc. Plus there's different kinds of mints including spearmint, peppermint, and hundreds of different types of mint, etc. If you make your own tea from mint, dry it out and steep it in boiling water for 5-10 minutes.

You might be confused about tea. Teas that do not come from the plant camelia sinensis are not true teas. These are called tisanes. The word tea is often thrown around since there's no other word to describe a boiling hot drink with herbs in it, so they call it tea.

But TG is correct in that they are different plants. Teas that come from camelia sinensus = true tea. All others are usually called tisanes, herbal , or fruit teas.

edit: the way you wrote it, there isn't a difference between mint leaves and mint leaves for tea. mint tea leaves can be used for tea.
Reply:Your confusion my stem from the fact that many teas mix mint and tea leaves. But they are seperate plants.
