How do I get rid of the roots of the mint in my garden?

This seems like the right time of year to try (spring, north eastern USA). The roots run on and on and they are strangling my garden.

Help!

How do I get rid of the roots of the mint in my garden?
You just have to keep pulling them as they pop up. They are underground runners. Next time plant it in a pot. Good Luck.
Reply:sounds like the only way to do it is to dig them up ... follow a root carefully (without breaking it) and untangle as you go
Reply:buy weed killer from garden center or DIY shops .. its a chemical u mix with water and spray the plant or roots it will kill them for good ...
Reply:Till the soil and use a rake to remove the roots from the loose soil.
